It also states that from 2002 to 2011 Divergence had approximately $250,000 charged to his arsenal credit card, which was paid with the campaign account, but never gave any explanation as to what the charges were for. The strategy for applying creativity that would best be used for this issue would be to devise or modify a process or system. Apparently, the laws that are in place for this matter are not specific enough, and there is a lack of enforcement. We will write a custom essay sample on Hum Week or any similar topic only for you Order Now These laws need to be modified to make their requirements more detailed, and there needs to be improvement of the enforcement of these laws. ) How might you use the strategies for promoting curiosity In addressing this topic? Why do you think these strategies might be effective? In order to promote curiosity in addressing this topic I think that the best thing to do would be to get more people involved in the process of change. When doing this, opinions can be heard and used to heighten the levels of curiosity. By allowing more people to be involved, it will bring better solutions as well. I feel this strategy would be very effective, because the most effective way to promote curiosity and devise a new yester of laws to avoid any further discrepancies would be with questions. The answers to these questions will provide better Ideas for the changes that are needed. It will also provide ways to change the way the laws are enforced. In my opinion, If the penalties for breaking the laws became stricter, there would be less of a chance that the laws would be broken. A possible solution could be to employ unbiased workers to keep track of what Is being spent and why It Is being spent. ) How might you use the various methods for producing Ideas to eliminate the blabs from the original article and still present a factual and persuasive case? Using the various methods for producing Ideas can eliminate the blabs direction In this article by using forced uncommon responses, using free association, and constructing pro and con arguments. By using forced uncommon responses, the com mon and familiar (bias) Ideas can be avoided or dismissed. This will give way for the more open minded (non-blabs) Ideas. The use of free association will allow for a more relaxed and controlled responses. Constructing pro and con arguments can be done, but only tit the safeguard of going out of your way to construct arguments and Ideas that can malignant a neutral outlook. It Is very Important to always keep In mind that there Is more than one side to the Issue or problem. Both sides need to have the same attention In order to come up with the most effective solution. Having biased opinions and Ideas will only add to the problem, and make the solution more difficult to achieve. Customers come to the eBay marketplace to buy and sell items in thousands of categories including collectibles, decor, appliances, computers, furnishings, equipment and vehicles. In addition to its original U. S. website, eBay has established localized websites in thirty other countries. The online auction website was founded in San Jose, California, on September 3, 1995, by French-born Iranian computer programmer Pierre Omidyar as AuctionWeb, part of a larger personal site that included. In November 1996, eBay entered into its first third-party licensing deal, with a company called Electronic Travel Auction to use SmartMarket Technology to sell plane tickets and other travel products. The company officially changed the name of its service from AuctionWeb to eBay in September 1997. Basic functions of the IS chosen To get to eBay. com, a user must first know the web address of eBay. The user can simply type in www. ebay. com. my on the internet browser’s address bar. Alternatively, the user may also access eBay by inputting the word â€Å"eBay† on any search engines. After proceeding to the website of eBay, the user is able to browse or search for products wanted. To look for an item, the user does not need to register. The user is allowed to browse, search and watch items as a guest but only limited up to 10. There is a search box for the user to enter what the user is looking for, located on the top left hand corner of the website. The user cannot bid nor buy as a guest. In order to buy a product, the user is required to register an account on the website. The user will have to enter their details such as e-mail address, full name, telephone number and home address to register. The user is also required to create a password which consists of 6 characters or more. The system will capture the data entered and then validate. If the user has made an error in entering the data, the system will display an error message. If there is no error while validating the ata, the system will then save the user’s account information in the company’s database so that users can retrieve their information from the database instead of filling their information again. After signing up, the user can login the account by inputting their username and password. There are four main sections to any auction page, which are â€Å"Title/Overview†, â€Å"Description†, â€Å"Shipping, payment and return policy†, and â€Å"Bidding†. If there are other users who input a higher price, the user will be unable to purchase the product. Besides that, there is a time limit for each bidding product. If the certain period of time is over, the product will disappear and be substituted with another new product. Then, the user has to enter â€Å"confirm bid† before the website shows the details again like the product name and code. So, the customer will have the chance to purchase the product successfully. In contrast, if the user selects â€Å"Buy It Now† and is a Malaysian, the seller will not charge any shipping fee on the user.If the product is delivered with Pos Laju service, there will be an extra charge of RM6 on the user. After that, the customer has to enter â€Å"Now Accepting PayPal† and enter â€Å"Buy It Now†, in order for system to show the user the quantity they are willing to purchase and some brief details of the product. Then, enter â€Å"Commit to Buy† to successfully purchase the product. It does not matter if the user selects â€Å"0 Bid† or â€Å"Buy It Now†, the payment of the product has to be made within 5 working days after placing the order on the website. The payment can be made through Bank Deposit, Cash Deposit, Postal Cash or Bank Draft from any bank. Improvements- Problems encountered and areas to improve There are many ways that can be used to improve the website in order to make it more user-friendly and acceptable by users. The company should update their website on a regular basis. Keeping their website up-to-date is necessary for users to be informed with the latest updates on the website. The company should add a small â€Å"new updates† section on one side or the centre of their homepage. This allows the users to notice new information regarding the transactions or services that are available. Besides that, the company may enhance the security system of the website by making it compulsory for users to create passwords which are of at least 8 characters, consisting of alphabetical and numeric characters. Also, most users tend to create fake identities in order to scam others. To prevent this from happening, the company should add in a column for the users to enter their Identification Card number to register. In addition, the website is lack of information.Firstly, there should be a â€Å"Shopping Cart† so that the user will know how many items they are planning to purchase or bid. There should also be a â€Å"Shopping History† section in order to allow the user to view what they have bought in the past. Moreover, there is no option for the user to print the record of the transaction in hardcopy as a proof of purchase. Some users may want to keep a copy of their transactions. Moreover, the â€Å"register† button on the homepage of the website is too small to be seen. To improve on that, the company should enlarge the â€Å"register† button in order to draw users’ attention.Next, the feedback forum in the website is not efficient enough. The company should add in a forum column so that some of the experienced users could help other new users answer their own precise questions instead of only creating an FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions) on the help section which may not fulfil every need of the users. There should also be a few experienced moderators in charge of the forum to prevent profane language. Furthermore, there should be more choices of languages in the website as not every user in Malaysia is English literate. The changing of languages tab should be on the top right hand corner in order to enable the users to spot the tab faster. After carrying out the opinions suggested, more users may want to pick eBay as their choice of E-commerce website. As the services and quality gets better, users can be served much well than before and will more likely visit the website again to purchase more products. Users will feel more comfortable because they get what they want. Conclusion In conclusion, the Transaction Processing Systems(TPS) of eBay provides a variety of advantages compared to manual operations.

Star Trek The Next Generation Essay Example For Students

Star Trek The Next Generation Essay Star Trek The Next GenerationStar date: 41176.8 Captains log. This is my (Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise #NCC-17O1 D)account of the events leading up to and beyond the Federation and Romulan war(2380-2385 AD). Star date: 32851.2: The Enterprise received a distressed call from afleeing scout ship. We will write a custom essay on Star Trek The Next Generation specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now SOS I am under attack!! request asylum Federation Space!!.. The ship was pushing the limits of its engines as it hurtled out of theneutral zone the volume of space that serves as a no-ones-land separating theUnited Federation of Planets and the Romulan Empire. A powerful Romulan warbirdwas mercilessly firing wave after wave of disrupter blasts at the smalldefenseless scout ship. Once the scout was in Federation space, the warbirdbroke off the attack and quickly retreated back to Romulan space. We hailed the ship and found out from her captain that he was alone. His name was Shaq, captain of the Check Mate. He claimed to be a Romulancaptain in search of Federation asylum. I had never heard of such a thing; inRomulan society, loyalty to the Romulan Empire is more sacred than life itself. In any event, I was certain that we would learn a lot more during the next fewdays. Star date: 32851.5: Captain Shaq claimed that he was defecting in orderto prevent intergalactic war. He told us that the Romulan Empire has plans foran abominable new weapon for use against the Federation and any others who mightdare to resist total domination of the Romulans. The weapon, called theMetagenic Device, would be launched from orbit to any planet and release adeadly virus throughout the planets atmosphere. The virus would then quicklyinfect all forms of life and cause fatal mutations in the DNA of its victims. Within twenty-four hours, all life would cease. Within thirty-six hours, thevirus itself would break down becoming inviolable, leaving the planetsresources free for plunder. At this time we did not know if we should trust Captain Shaq, so Idecided to send an away team to investigate his ship and its computer record. As I was ordering my number 1 officer, Commander Riker, with the away team overto the Checkmate, Shaq warned me against such action claiming that he hadinitiated a self-destruct sequence before leaving his vessel. Seconds later, the scout ship exploded. We immediately questioned Captain Shaq as to why heinitiated the self-destruct. He replied, that though he wanted to prevent thewar, he was no traitor and would not willingly give up the secrets of hispeople. Star date: 32854.5: After two days of deliberations, we are headingfor Romulus the home planet of the Romulan Empire. According to Shaq, theMetagenic weapon was being created there. We have no choice but to start a warto save the federation. I have convinced captain Shaq that he is a defector andnow a prisoner of war as well. Star date: 32855.5: We are at Wolf System 9 on the border where wejoined a Federation battle fleet. We are going to Romulus in hopes ofdestroying the Metagenic Device. Regrettably history showed us as being theaggressor of this war. Star date: 32857.5: After a two-day campaign, we where victorious atRomulus. With a loss of only 1 ship out of 6, thats not too bad. But we lostover 1,000 lives, the Yorktown, and even with the victory all is not well. Wewhere not able to find the Metagenic Device that Captain Shaq had so desperatelywanted us to find and destroy. I had so many lingering questions in my headthat only Captain Shaq could answer for me, so I sent for him at the FederationP.O.W. camp on Elpsolon 9. Soon after I sent for Captain Shaq the Federationsent new orders with 5 more ships to add to the fleet. Star date: 32858.0: With the new orders we now know that the Federationwants us to launch an extended large scale assault against the Romulans. TheFederation needs this mission to be a success, because eventually when the timeis right they want to establish a starbase deep in Romulan space. That wouldgreatly shift the power in the quadrant, towards the Federations way. Star date 32917.4: Its been 6 months since my initial encounter withCaptain Shaq. We now have the controlling power in the quadrant, and we areable to keep control of the quadrant with the help of our new starbase D.R.S.6--DEEP IN ROMULAN SPACE IN 6 MONTHS. With an up and running starbase that has afleet of 10 ships, if the Romulans want us out of here they are going to needsome help. But according to Federation Intelligence they may just have that. .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .postImageUrl , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:hover , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:visited , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:active { border:0!important; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:active , .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305 .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u471a0cdc402bf614a1cde083b93a8305:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Sugars Symphony EssayStar date 32920.8: Federation Intelligence has told us that theRomulans are trying to form an alliance with the Cardasens-another powerfulrevile race. The Cardasens are know for their powerful armies. If the alliancedoes go through, the Federation will be destroyed in a matter of time. So wethought it was time we get some help from the our good friends the Klingons. Star date 32918.9: The Federation has sent new orders. We are toseparate the Enterprise, and the drive section is to stay here and lead the warunder the command of Commander Riker. In the mean time the saucer section andI are to go the Klingons home planet-City Alpha 5 to formally ask the KlingonHigh Console-a party that controls the government-for any help it can provide. Star date 32963.0: Just as I was headed out for City Alpha 5, Ireceived word from Federation Intelligence that our operatives are hearingrepeated rumors about Captain Shaq. That he was used as a pawn in a plot to getthe Federation to start a intergalactic war. One more disturbing rumor is thatCaptain Shaq was ill, and his illness caused him to become insane. His insanitywould first turn him into a habitual lire, and then he would start believinghimself, and then symptoms would get worse, and he would become paranoid. Thenthe last symptoms of his rumored illness called marit, would force him to killhimself. Regrettably sense the illness is incurable, if Captain Shaq has it, hewill die, and the only way to be absolutely sure if he has it is to test hisbody after his death. Star date 32919.7: We had arrived at City Alpha 5. I had to go work toameeditly, and time was running out quickly. I asked to talk to the leader ofHigh Console-Gallron. The ship ride was the easiest part of the trip by far. Ishould have known that they would not give help for free. After 8 hours ofnegotiating, we hammered out a deal. Once the our alliance wins the war, theKlingons have all rights to the Cardasens and to the Cardasen space. All I askfor is full military support, and when we win that, they dont kill theirCardasen P.O.W.s. They agreed to just enslave them all and kill the Cardasenmilitary leaders. I had no choice but to live with that deal the Federationwill need help. Star date 32922.4: The Enterprise is now together, and we have learnedthat Gallron wasted no time. He launched a full scale assault on the Cardasens. He hit them hard, and he hit fast. Within hours of our negotiating he launchedassault using 90% of the Klingon military. We are not yet sure if he will win. The Federation ordered us to hold off on all assaults until they send word toD.R.S.6 on how Gallrons forces are doing, and if they need help or if they willbe joining us soon. Star date 32933.7: We have received word from the Federation thatGallrons Klingon forces won. With an 85% win rate, and with some loss. Fromthe report that Gallron gave the Federation, he won in just a few days. I guesshe caught the Cardasens with their pants down. Gallron will meet us at D.R.S.6in 3 days with a fleet of 25 Klingon warbirds. Star date 32936.1: Gallron and the Klingons arrived 3 hours ago, andwe have planed out hopefully our first and last assault together agents theRomulans. I was given the honor of devising are military strategy. It isreally simple plan, we are going to brake the Klingon and Federation battlefleets into two, so we will have in total 4 small scale battle fleets. We namedthe 4 fleets. The Klingon fleets are called the Gallron and the Alpha Flight, and the two Federation fleets are called the Democracy and the Evolution. Ifall goes well all we need to do is box the Romulans in. We launched what I callthe Picard Jack-In-Box Strategy in less then 23 hours. Star date 32937.1: All is not well we hit a snag with my Strategy. TheCardasens made a surprise attack on the Gallron fleet and destroyed all 13 ships, including Gallrons ship. With the death of Gallron the Klingon leader, itwill be near impossible to control the last remaining Kilngon battle fleet,Alpha Flight. I now have even a bigger problem than the loss of the fleet. Thebox had collapsed, and when there was an opening, the Romulans and theCardasens escaped through it and now they are headed for earth ( the heart ofthe Federation ) with the Metagenic Device. I cant help but be afraid for allthose life forms, over 20 trillion life forms that live in the Earths SolarSystem. There are 9 trillion life forms on Earth alone. If the Romulans andthe Cardasens launch the Metagenic Device, it will be a disaster, and there isnot a thing I can do about it. .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .postImageUrl , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:hover , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:visited , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:active { border:0!important; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:active , .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64 .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2bf050e3e4f7a931e44806c58fb0ce64:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Bessie Smith EssayStar date 32939.1: We are in pursuit of the Romulan and the Cardasenbattle fleet. At worp 9.9, we are pushing our engine to its limits. Theirfleet has a 3 hour jump on us. After the loss of the Gallron fleet I orderedall the remaining battle fleets to regroup and restrategize. While we weredoing that, they headed for Earth . I hope the planetary defense systems inEarths Solar System can stop or hold them off, just In tell we can get there. But realistically, I dont think they can do it. If there is a God, I hope andpray that he will be with them on this day. Star date 33030:2: We arrived just in time Earths planetary defensesystems where able to hold the Romulan and the Cardasen battle fleet. It lookslike they were only able to launch the Metagenic Device at two planets: Jupiterand Saturn. After a gruesome battle and war it is all over. The Federation nowhas the controlling power in the quadrant, but at what cost? At the last battlewe lost a few ships with a lot of good people on them. It will take some timeto find out how many life forms were killed on Jupiter and Saturn. Star date 33045:8 Its 12 months later, and the 1st anniversary sincethe end of the Federation and Romulan war, and its getting harder to get use tothe quadrant. Two months ago the Federation released a statement saying about 4trillion life forms died on Jupiter and Saturn, and the Federation would startto recognize the planets and their moons. I have a special interest in Saturnsmoon Elpsolon 9. Captain Shaq was still on the moon when the Metagenic Devicewas launched. He died due to a war he tried to prevent, but in turn he startedit. It is just as well that he is dead. I do not know what I would say to himif I saw him. It became official two days ago the Klingons closed their neutral zoneto all Federation ships and Federation people. Due to the death of Gallron theKlingon leader, Klingons have developed hostile attitude. Soon after the war,we honored our deal by turning over the Cardasens, and the Cardasen space overto the Klingons. We know that they will not honor the deal, and they will killlots of Cardasen people. The Federation will not enforce any of the terms ofthe deal. I cant help but feel that I have doomed a race of people to theliving hell of enslavement. I keep telling myself that at the time ofnegotiating the deal I had no choice. The Federation needed the help of theKlingons. But they helped us win the war, and without them we would not havewon. I guess we will have no choice but to live the deal. And I guess theCardasens will have to live with the deal for the rest of their life. As for the Romulans we ceased all of their military and have control of65% of their land. The Federation worked out a deal with them saying that wewill keep them safe from any race that may try to get a foothold on their landand that they can have free use of our Romulan land. That part of the deal letsus keep a eye on them. Now that the Federation has most of the Romulan land, and the Klingons have most of the Cardasen land, that makes us the Federationand the Klingons the only two Super Powers left in the quadrant. But for now atlast all is well, and I can only pray that it stays that way.

Free Essays on Pascals Triangle

Blaise Pascal Blaise Pascal was a great mathematician from the 17th Century. He was born on June 19, 1623 in Clermont, France. His father’s name was Etienne. Etienne was a local judge at Clermont and like Pascal had an interest in science. His mother was Antoinette Begon who died when Pascal was only three. He had two sisters named Gilberte and Jacqueline. At the age of eight, Pascal’s father moved his family to Paris to keep up his scientific studies and to carry on the education of Pascal who showed exceptional ability. He did not allow Pascal to work so he could concentrate on his studies. But Pascal at first was not allowed to study mathematics. He was confined to the study of languages. When Pascal was twelve years old he got very curious about geometry so he asked his tutor in what geometry consisted. He was so interested about it that he used to give up his play time to this new study and in a few weeks had discovered for himself many properties of figures, and in particular the proposition that the sum of the angles of a triangle is equal to two right angles. His father, surprised by this display of ability, gave him a copy of Euclid’s â€Å"Elements†. Pascal read the book and mastered it. This won him respect for his great talent in mathematics. So Pascal’s attention began to focus on analytical geometry and physics. Pascal did not attend school and because of his interests in geometry at the age of fourteen Pascal was admitted to meetings of French geometricians. At the age of sixteen he wrote an essay on conic sections and at age eighteen, he constructed the first arithmetical machine. When he was nineteen years old, Pascal began to create a machine that would be similar to an everyday calculator to help his father with his accounting job. After that Pascal worked on many mathematical problems, including how gases and fluids behave. In 1654, when Pascal was 31 he created â€Å"Pascal’s Triang... For instance, il primo is the first course on a menu and il secondo is the second course, so pay attention to articles. Here’s what they look like: English and Italian first primo second secondo third terzo fourth quarto fifth quinto sixth sesto seventh settimo eighth ottavo ninth nono tenth decimo eleventh undicesimo twelfth dodicesimo thirteenth tredicesimo fourteenth quattordicesimo fifteenth quindicesimo sixteenth sedicesimo seventeenth diciassettesimo eighteenth diciottesimo nineteenth diciannovesimo twentieth ventesimo twenty-first ventunesimo twenty-third ventitreesimo hundredth centesimo thousandth millesimo two thousandth duemillesimo three thousandth tremillesimo one millionth Milionesimo When used with the numerical succession of kings, popes, and emperors, the ordinal numbers are capitalized. For example, Vittorio Emanuele III (Terzo), who ruled the unified Italian nation from 1900 to 1946, was the third king with that name. Some other examples are: Pope Paul Quinto - Pope Paul VVittorio Emanuele Secondo - Vittorio Emanuele IILeone Nono - Leone IXCarlo Quinto   - Carlo V Here are some examples of centuries: diciottesimo secolo - eighteenth centurydiciannovesimo secolo - nineteenth centuryventesimo secolo - twentieth century Notice the regularity of ordinal numbers beginning with undicesimo. The suffix -esimo is added to the cardinal numbers by dropping the final vowel of the cardinal number. The one exception includes numbers ending in -trà ©. Those numbers drop their accent and are unchanged when -esimo is added. Since Italian ordinal numbers function as adjectives, they must agree in gender and number with the nouns they modify: primo, prima, primi, prime. Il primo ministro - The Prime MinisterIl primo sindaco donna della storia di questa citt - The first female major in the history of this cityPrendiamo il primo treno che arriva! - Let’s catch the first train coming!La prima della fila à ¨ questa signora, io sono la seconda. - The first in line is this lady, I’m the second one.

Ethics in an academic environment are necessary to ensure student Research Proposal

Ethics in an academic environment are necessary to ensure student success - Research Proposal Example There are serious issues in the wake of showing ethical concerns within the academic environments all over the world. Committing plagiarism, remaining steadfast in copying and succumbing to last minute options like borrowing from another student’s work, etc are some of the common approaches that have been adopted by students all over the globe. (Hamilton, 2002) The problem lies in their priorities. They have not been taught to play it clean, always. Even if they have been taught as such, the need remains to be ascertained whether they actually want to follow such rules and implement within their lives. What they seem to miss is the fact that being morally right would keep their conscience clean and thus they would be able to learn more within the academic environment. (Cantor, 1993) However the role of media and the ever-increasing avenues of fun and enjoyment have made the students’ time difficult to manage. They find shortcuts and the best available for them is to see k quick help at a little cost. (Jonassen, 2004) Some believe that the corporate ethics have a great deal of its relevant or irrelevant say within the way the students behave within their academic regimes. What this implies is the fact that the top-down approach towards putting off work or doing it unethically has marred the university culture of late. The role of corporations and organizations might not be direct but then again there is a pertinent role. (Hoben & Yeoman, 2008) The act of using unethical means to one’s own liking for his personal benefit is indeed called plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious offense all over the world. The people who commit such acts are taken in a bad stead. The reasons for giving into the knack of plagiarism are manifolds. The most basic is to get the work done in a quick and speedy manner so that there is less trouble for the said person as far as completion of this work is concerned. However, this is no rationale for getting

T.S. Eliot Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

T.S. Eliot - Essay Example The fourth part, by far the shortest, transitions to the final part and then moves to discuss concepts of a different persuasion. The poem, a challenging discourse which spans Literatures, characters and time creates the notion of disconnect but symbolizes in its entirety the fragmentation of today’s society bought by war despite of, or maybe because of, modernity. Eliot effectively challenges traditional poetry by setting forth the more imminent themes that are taking place in society. Because art is not merely an imitation of life, it is a tool to demonstrate a reflection of our own vanity and pitfalls as human beings. The theme of the war is a principal element of the poem which is clear by the timeframe when it was written, after the World War I which was considered in its time as the first Great War. The atrocities of war are a common knowledge that though people are aware of it, the same is not divulged by the very nature of its brutality. We know war, we understand that it does occur, but we do not recognize what actually happens in the frontlines. This notion is even more apparent in today’s world where wars are fought in distant lands involving foreign faces that are neither acknowledged nor talked about. People live in the comforts of battles fought by strangers through technologies that make it easier to defeat any other less organized or funded army crushed by the more technology-advanced force. â€Å"Unreal City,/ Under the brown fog of a winter dawn,/ A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many,/ I had not thought death had undone so many. /Sighs, short and infrequent, were exhaled,/ And each man fixed his eyes before his feet.† (Eliot 60-65). This speaks to the author’s disbelief over the indifference of the people as to the extent of death that was upon their feet. Alaeddini and Jeihouni perceptively observe, â€Å"To Eliot inaction provides the desired pretext for the power holders
